By admin | September 25, 2008
The music industry is set to make room for yet another heavyweight competitor in the digital downloading sector. Social networking phenomenon MySpace has launched its new online music service which is called MySpace Music. The new facility allows millions of users to search for their favourite artists and song titles, which can then be purchased via a link to Amazon.
MySpace Music boasts partnerships with Universal Music, EMI, BMG and Warner Music.
A spokesperson for the News Corp. owned website said that MySpace was developing its business to ensure that users are to access a service that will provide them with some of the best music deals the internet has to offer. The new service will also help to combat the much publicized problem of illegal music downloading.
He added that of the 75 million unique hits that MySpace receives each month around 35 million hits are generated by music content enquiries.
To solidify the service’s appeal major advertisers such as Sony Pictures and MacDonalds have joined the MySpace Music revolution.
