UK music site takes aim at MySpace, Facebook

By admin | September 5, 2008

An actor turned entrepreneur has set up a new website that is aimed at taking on MySpace and Facebook, in his local area. Andy Smith ,who has acted in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, has founded the Bandizmo website to highlight the talents of local bands.

The actor felt that the major social networking sites are unable to showcase the talents of local bands without distracting users’ attentions with a wide range of corporate advertisements. He also berated these sites for failing to measure up to audio quality standards.

Smith said that his site will play quality local music and the emphasis will be on the artiste. He pointed out that many of the major social networking site owners fail to recognize the effort that local bands put into cultivating their image and sound. Bandizmo will allow them to display their talents to a wider internet based audience.

The site is primarily designed to host the best talent in Croydon, London but there may be opportunities for other bands from outside the area to promote their music on the site in  future.
